My Hip Hop journey throughout the years
Hi, today I'm gonna introduce you to my favorite music genre, HIP HOP. I've been introduced to hip hop when I was very young, I would say around 10 years old when my dad was listening to a French rap brand of the 90s "NTM", not very long after he bought me my first rap album, a French band named "Sexion d'assault".
Sexion d'assault is a French rap band created in 2002 made of seven members, all from Paris suburb: Gims, Barack Adama, Left, Maska, Doomas, JR O Crom and Black M. Their first album was released in 2010 and was called " L'école des points vitaux". Their first huge success was with the album "l'apogée" ( the peak in English) composed of 3 songs that who have exceeded 30 Millions streams on Spotify, they sold more than 150 000 DVD, which is very good for a non digital album. This album had so much success that won two "NJR Music Awards" for the best French speaking group of the year, and the best album of the year overall. After this huge success, they all decided to launch their own solo career, which was a very good things for some of them, like Gims who became one or the best rapper of the decade 2010/2020, his success wasn't only in France but all over the world with some featuring with Ozuna, Sia, Lil Wayne, Quavo. Black M and Lefa also had a very good success French wise. For the rest, it's very hard to say what are they doing now.
Hear my favorite song of Sexion d'assault "Avant qu'elle parte" ( Before she die in English) which talk about the love of a mother, a very emotional song.
The next band I'm gonna talk about is " Casseurs Flowters" Casseurs Flowters is a French hip-hop group, originally from Caen, in Calvados. Formed by Orelsan and Gringe, the name of the group takes its origin from the film "Maman, j'ai rate l'avion!" in which the duo are called “Casseurs Flowters.
They made music from 2000 to 2016. Their first mixtape was released in 2013 entitled "Oreslan and Gringe are the flowters breakers" and then became known to the general public in 2015 with the album "comment c'est loin" which was the soundtrack of the very well-known film "homonym" this group was for me the beginning of my love for rap because I knew these two rappers before they were very well known and this made me understand that by searching well and by looking into it, I could find rappers who weren't very well known and who I could appreciate.
In 2015, my discovery of French rap was a cultural and musical revelation that changed my vision of music and rap in particular. Artists like Fianso, ninho, booba, jul allowed me to broaden my musical culture and find my favorite musical style. The authenticity of the stories told captivated me, reflecting personal testimonies on the different facts of life added a deep artistic dimension to each piece.
That's why now I'm gonna talk about this rapper I've discovered around 2017 when I was 14/15 years old, "Ninho" Ninho is a French rapper born on April 2, 1996 in Yerres, in the Essonne department. His real name is William Nzobazola. Ninho has gained popularity in the French musical landscape thanks to his songwriting talents, his distinctive flow and his varied musical productions. He has released several projects which have met with great success, among which we can cite albums such as "Come prévu" (2017), "MILS" (Now they know, 2016), "Destin" (2019), "M.I.L.S 2.0" (2020), and others. His pieces have often addressed themes linked to his life, his journey, and urban realities. Ninho is also known for his collaborations with other French rap artists, expanding his influence in the music industry. His popularity has grown over the years, making him one of the prominent figures on the rap scene in France. As I said, he is now the rappers that is the most popular in France, and the fact that I've discovered this artist very early, before his big success make is very good because I saw him rise in popularity, diversify, make new collaborations and show his talent throughout France, and now even internationally, because over the last year he notably made a featuring with "central cee" the number one rapper one in UK and "Lil baby" that you probably know.
My favorite Ninho's album is "Destin" with my favorite song : La vie qu'on mène.
